Appellate law firm to open new office in The Villages

THE VILLAGES - A thriving appellate law firm has broken ground for a new office building in The Villages and its attorneys see the community as an ideal market for the firm's services and will meet many of its members' needs.

"We can work anywhere in the state of Florida, but we chose The Villages because of the incredible lifestyle it provides us," said Shannon McLin Carlyle, who founded The Carlyle Appellate Law Firm in 1997 with her husband, Christopher V. Carlyle. "One of the main reasons we're in The Villages is because our children will benefit from going to the best school in the state (The Villages Charter School). That was one of the real advantages of buying that piece of property."

Carlyle's children are in the first, third and fifth grades and attend school less than a mile from the site of their new building - in the Laurel Manor Professional Plaza.

A groundbreaking ceremony took place Friday afternoon while the employees sipped on champagne and celebrated the pending move to an office they can call their own. The firm currently leases an office in La Plaza Grande Professional Center, located along La Grande Boulevard. Construction is expected to be completed in the spring.

The firm handles a variety of civil cases, and its four attorneys argue cases in courthouses across the region, including such cities as Orlando, Miami, Tallahassee and Atlanta.

"We like to balance community and career, and being in The Villages enables us to do that," Carlyle said.
