Gilbert S. Goshorn, Jr. served as a Judge of Florida's Fifth District Court of Appeal for ten years, and was Chief Judge of that court from 1991 to 1993. Prior to his service as an appellate judge, Mr. Goshorn was a Judge with the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit, and was Chief Judge of that court during his tenure. He was nominated for appointment to the Florida Supreme Court in 1993. From 1988 to 1999, Mr. Goshorn was a member of the Judicial Qualification Commission, which hears and provides oversight of complaints about state judges, and was the Chair of that body in 1997-98. He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Goshorn received his law degree from the University of Florida, where he was elected to the University of Florida Hall of Fame, as well as the Florida Blue Key, an honorary leadership fraternity. He has over forty years of experience in Florida law.
Mr. Goshorn is active in business and public service. He formerly served on the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society, Brevard County, and is a member of the Masonic Indian River Lodge #90, the Azan Shrine Temple, the Orlando Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Elks Lodge No. 2113. He has also served on various boards of directors for Florida banks.
Mr. Goshorn has contributed to the economic growth of Florida and the local community. He is a past two-time President of the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce, and was elected as a Member of the Canaveral Port Authority (1978) and became Vice Chairman of the Authority in 1980. He is one of the original organizers and the Chair of the Brevard Economic Development Commission, and was an original organizer and board member of the Brevard Guidance Center.
